The language is a little advanced so I had to explain the concept at the end but we both howled with laughter after reading a story called "The Stick". This accessible book is a great collection of new and re-introduced parables, that will benefit the whole family. Good reminders of classic wisdom, and parable style helps for deeper thinking than just straightforward moralizing. Recommended.
Swanson does a unparalleled job of condensing life-truths into short simple parables that you can read in only a few minutes (why not in the bathroom!)
Parables are a lost art that Thomas has revived with skill and fancy.

This is a great little book. I have been looking for a collection of parables for sometime now. This book fit perfectly with what I was looking for. I actually have been using some of the parables in my podcast and have been receiving some great feedback because of it.
I also love this book because Thomas takes it to the next level by teaching you how to construct parables for yourself. I am really excited to test his strategies for myself. If I can get go at story telling, it would save me a lot of time.
I highly recommend this book. Just get it for the originality of the project.
This book was a great, concise collection of parables that not only gave me good conversation fodder, but helped me to think up my own parables in case I ever need to get across information in a more creative way. Definitely recommended.
Perhaps I am not creative enough, but although short essays do illustrate truth can't say I was inspired to see things differently...maybe I missed the point when I read what the content was going to be.
This book provides great stories for personal reflection. There isn't much more than stories and it trusts the reader to interpret for themselves. Great books.
This book is a great starting point for accessing the rich tradition of communication through parables (a sorrowfully absent medium for us moderns). Good for personal contemplation as well as stimulating conversation with others. Highly recommended.
